Medical Anti-wrinkle for Migraines

Today we wanted to talk to you about anti-wrinkle injections and how they can be used to treat migraines. By treating patients who suffer migraines with anti-wrinkle injections in their frown and forehead, we have seen dramatic improvement in their symptoms. If you have suffered migraines but never used anti-wrinkle injections as a treatment option, we highly recommend you chat to us about how it might work for you.

“So how does it work?” I hear you ask. Before we get to how and why it works, let’s talk about how tension headaches and migraines are often caused. The frontalis muscle is a muscle in your forehead. This muscle is the one that controls your eyebrows – allowing you to lift your eyebrows up and down. For some people, the frontalis muscle is overused and this can be what causes a tension headache or migraine.

Anti-wrinkle injections can offer relief to our patients. These injections relax the frontalis muscles. Relaxing these muscles can reduce tension headaches effectively.

The number of injections you need will likely depend on the severity of your symptoms and the tension we find in your frontalis muscles. Injection numbers range between 5-13. A treatment would involve injecting these 5-13 injections across your forehead in different locations – those locations identified to provide the greatest release of tension and maximise your relief from headache.

Anti-wrinkle injections for migraine relief are incredibly safe but, like any treatment, it doesn’t come completely without risk. Here are a few potential side-effects, most of which we can mitigate:

Anti-wrinkle injections can potentially cause small bruises
It’s possible that an injection can cause a mild headache the day after injection.
It’s possible that anti-wrinkle injections can cause “heavy eyebrows” and a drop in the height of your eyebrows. We can mitigate this risk by injecting any frown wrinkles at the same time.

We know that many of our clients are fearful before they come in. They worry that anti-wrinkle injections will be painful. The injections are generally not painful – like a small pinch at most. You may notice a little bit of inflammation around the injection area shortly after an injection but this always clears up quickly. Your forehead should look normal within 20 minutes.
